2015 Send A Smile-IconGood morning everyone!

I thought I would take today’s post and get an announcement out about my 2015 Card Charity Event.

I really had to think hard about whether I could put one together this year or not simply because I have so many other things going on but, when you have an enthusiastic, encouraging and lovely group of friends rooting you on and asking for another event, it’s pretty darned hard to resist.

One of the dilemmas I faced this year was that the card organization that we have been working with (Operation Write Home) had made some pretty major changes to their guidelines which, for a group like mine, created challenges. So, I did some research into other organizations who collect cards for causes and I found one called Card Care Connection. You can  visit their website at www.cardcareconnection.com if you are curious about what they do but basically, they collect hand made cards to send to a list of people who have cancer or other terminal diseases. How great is that?!

So, to make a long story short, I’ve renamed my annual card event to Send A Smile (formerly Stamp A Stack for the Troops) and I am hoping we can send Card Care Connection a great big box of cards that will put a smile on somone’s face.

This year’s event will take place on May 3rd from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

We will be making 10 different cards (2 of each card) with one of each card going to the Card Care Connection.  As always, the other set is yours to keep and use. Our cards this year will be an assortment of thinking of yous and happy hellos. The kind that will put a smile on the face of whomever receives it.

 Kit Cost is $23.00

Kits include everything you need (except adhesive) to complete all 20 cards including envelopes.

Click HERE TO REGISTER and get complete details or you can hop over to my Charity Events Page OR you can click on the Send A Smile Icon in the right sidebar.

If you are in the immediate area, I would love to see you at the event, but if you cannot attend and would still like to help, I will also be taking donations on my registration page. Those donations will then be sent on to Card Care Connection in the form of a check once the event is over.

Thank you, in advance, for your support of this event. Let’s work together to make a difference in someone else’s life.

Oh My God, I had such a fun time this weekend I cannot begin to tell you. I literally stamped until my fingers cramped, my eyes were blurry and my creative mojo went to bed without me. I love all my crafting sisters and it’s always so wonderful to get to spend time with them. I won’t go into all the laughter, “interesting” topics and what all we got into, but suffice it to say some of that might be why I was a bit blurry… Just sayin’

So today, I have a fun set that I know I have featured here before, but when it comes to fun cards for birthdays and such this one is great. It works great with grunge sets and can really go with most any font type for sentiments. So, yes. it’s a bunch of circles, but they’re versatile circles!

5inkyfingers Monday Medley-2015-mm68-1
I’m starting off with a bright and snappy birthday card in Pumpkin Pie and Real Red with a nice crisp white for my neutral.
All the circles were stamped and punched from white and popped up on dimensions save one. The sentiment circle is layered on a scallop circle of Real Red which, in hindsight I wasn’t sure if I liked, but the little extra bit of red was good so I left it.
The card is layered with two different strips of washi tape and the circles were added after. A few sequins and gems give this one some sparkle. Gotta have sparkle for a birthday right?

My second card is a variation on one I did a month or so ago with my little group of stamping ladies at work. In fact, I had parts and pieces left from that class so I just used those to start things off. The only difference here is the addition of the Blackberry Bliss panel. My class card was all white except for the bright flowers we used.
Here, I scattered the circles in Lucky Limeade, Rich Razzleberry, and Smoky Slate over the three strips making sure to leave room for my sentiment of course.
No bling or embellies on this one. It really didn’t need it and this one went together in a snap. Perfect for that “OMG, I need a card FAST” moment we all have once in a while. LOL!

My last card today is a rich mix of Bayou Blue, Basic Black on crisp white.
I started with stamping several of the circles in both Bayou Blue and Black directly on the card before I pulled out the washi tape and layered together a couple patterns in the appropriate colors over what I had stamped . I then added the punched circles over the top along with the little sentiment oval. Black gems and a Bazzill Mysterious Teal backer panel finish this one off.

Have a fantastic week everyone!

Good morning and Happy Monday!

I have to say I am more than a little giddy this morning because I had a wonderful, relaxing weekend and I have a short (but busy) week ahead before I skip off to my annual Scrap Camp Retreat with a group of truly delightful women who, for 3 1/2 days are my elbow-to-elbow crafting sisters. Of course some of them sit in that role year around, but for one weekend a month we gather together and revel in it. I’m so excited to be going that I completely abandoned my plan to scale back what I am bringing and have ventured back into the land of ridiculousness with no less than 6 or 7 bags of stuff. Praise the Lord for Thirty-One bags, that’s all I can say!

Anywhoo, to get you off to a good start this week I have a few Spring-y cards to share with you. I hope you find some inspiration here in a very pretty and fun set to work with. I find this one to be perfect for a lot of different kinds of cards, but with Easter on the horizon I think I will be doing more with it.

Enjoy and have a great week!

My first card is a soft and springy wildflower garden birthday. I stamped the flowers in Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron, Crushed Curry and Memento Angel Pink and the stems in Certainly Celery on a panel of white. This was layered on a panel of textured Sunshine Yellow cs then wrapped with a piece of pink ruffled ribbon and then adhered to the Certainly Celery card. A button and some baker’s twine in the lower right and a sentiment, stamped and punched in the upper left finish this quick and easy card off.

My second card comes with a little extra sparkle but the colors are still soft and feminine.
My card is a half sheet of Pretty in Pink layered with a chevron cut piece of pink vellum and a thinner strip, also chevron cut, of silver glimmer paper.
The flowers and a couple of leaf sprays were stamped both on a Spellbinder cut circle and on a scrap of white. The latter were hand trimmed and popped up on dimensionals along with a couple sprays of leaves. All of this got a little dash of Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Gotta have glitter right? Finally, I stamped the sentiment directly on the circle with Memento Tuxedo Black and then mounted the circle to the card with dimensionals as well.

My last card for today has a more late-summer, early Autumn feel to it. The card base is a half sheet of More Mustard layered with a wide and narrow panel of DSP from the now retired Haiku collection. I trimmed the narrower piece with a punched edge of American Crafts Fern cs before adhering it in place.
My tag is a piece of white textured cs. I stamped and diecut a little tab for the sentiment and adhered it to the back of the tag then adhered the piece directly to the card. The stamped panel is stamped and colored with copics along with a couple of extra flowers that I hand trimmed to pop up on dimensionals. I sponged everything before adding the extra flowers and the ribbon and then used a few more dimensionals to adhere the piece to the tag.

Here’s the list of supplies:

S: Flowers for a Friend, Stampednous: Birthday Wish, Hero Arts: It’s Your Day and Everything Happy

P: Certainly Celery, Bazzill: Sunshine Textured, Ivory, Pretty in Pink, Light pink vellum, White, Silver Glimmer paper. More Mustard, American Crafts: Fern, Haiku DSP, Bazzill White textured

Good morning!

I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine’s Day and weekend. Rich and I had a quiet dinner at home and watched a movie. My choice (of course) but I admit I should have done a little more research on what I picked because, as it turned out, I chose a Nicholas Sparks movie so the ending sucked. I generally swear off of his books and movies because he has a penchant for killing off his characters. Since I am a die hard happy ending sort of girl, this annoys me to no end and generally ruins the movie for me. Sadly, this one was no exception. Darn it.

On a happier note, today I have a couple of birthday cards to share with you plus one wedding card. I’m short on birthday cards actually so I spent a good chunk of the day yesterday putting some together. This set is so perfect for weddings though that I couldn’t resist one of those too.

I’m featuring Baroque Motifs this week which is a favorite set of mine mostly because of that wonderful swirl but I also love how it can be so versatile. So, let’s get started!

5inkyfingers Monday Medley-2015-mm66-1

My first card today is a dramatic mix of Real Red and Basic Black on white. I layered the black and red on a white card then stamped the swirl with Basic Black on another panel of white. I punched the upper left corner using a decorative punch.
Next, I stamped several of the small flower in Real Red and punched them using the Boho Blossoms punch. These were popped up on foam dimensionals and then trimmed in their centers with black gems.
A Happy Birthday sentiment in Real Red and a scattering of red nailheads finish this card off.

5inkyfingers Monday Medley-2015-mm66-2

My second card was inspired by one that I did at a card class with my friend Alvina recently. It begins with a Certainly Celery card base that I stamped with the swirl in the same color ink. I also stamped and punched out three small flowers and the birthday sentiment of Certainly Celery.
I cut a separate panel of white and then used a Spellbinder circle to cut an opening in the panel. I popped the white panel up on foam dimensionals then adhered a strip of silver glimmer paper below the opening,
The butterflies were punched from white and glued into the circular opening. The flowers were adhered along with a couple sprays of leaves to the edge of the opening and the sentiment was adhered with dimensionals. A few gems give this card a little sparkle.

5inkyfingers Monday Medley-2015-mm66-3

My last card today is a pretty wedding card although it would work equally well for an anniversary card.
The card base is a half sheet of Basis Pop Tones Coral. I scored the front in half and tucked the flap to the inside before stamping the card interior with Groovy Guava. I trimmed the center front fold with a strip of glitter tape and then cut three separate Label Collection Framelits – two in the larger size and one smaller. One of the larger pieces was labeled into the inside of card while the other was pressed with my Modern Vines embossing folder, The smaller piece was stamped with the swirl in 2nd generation ink. I adhered the embossed piece on the inside of the front flap and then laid the stamped piece on the top. A quick “cherish” tag on white and a layered butterfly with a few pearls wrap this one up.

Here’s the list of supplies for this week:

S: Baroque Motifs, Cindy Echtinaw Designs: Label Accents, Stampendous: Orchid Greetings
P: white, Real Red, Basic Black, Basis Pop tones Coral, Certainly Celery, Silver glimmer paper
I: Real Red, Basic Black, Groovy Guava, Certainly Celery
A: nail heads, foam dimensionals, All Night Media: Deco Corner Punch, Boho Blossoms punch, Modern Vines embossing folder, Labels Collection Framelits, Elegant Butterfly punch, Bitty Butterfly punch, glitter tape, pearls, gems, Spellbinders Circles, Martha Stewart: Monarch Butterfly punch, Martha Stewart: Little Leaf punch

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you have a great week!

Good morning!

Okay, so Valentine’s Day is this coming weekend, and like many of you, I’ve been working on ideas for my own sweethearts.  I’ve procrastinated a bit which is why you haven’t seen much here at 5inkyfingers in the way of inspiration. Thank God for Pinterest! Of course there are oodles of cute ideas out there so my head has been spinning a bit with the possibilities, but I kept circling back to this cute heart set. When I paired it up with a couple of equally cute Paper Smooches sentiment sets I had no trouble putting together three distinctly different cards in no time.

So, let’s get started…maybe these will give the rest of the procrastinators out there a little last minute inspiration!

5inkyfingers-Monday Medley #65-2015-mm65-1

My first card is a simple combination of circles and hearts but I tossed in a non-traditional Soft Sky ink and paper just to step away from the standard pink, red and brown for this one. The stamped panel is layered on Chocolate Chip and tied with bakers twine before getting attached to the card. The circles are layered up on dimensionals and the “friend” heart has a couple of dimensionals too. I finished this one off with a trio of rose colored nailheads.

5inkyfingers-Monday Medley #65-2015-mm65-2

My second card begins with a Ridinghood Red base layered with a panel of Smoky Slate.
I trimmed one end of the Smoky Slate with some sparkly washi tape for a bit of sparkle on that side of the card.
The stamped panel is done in Basic Black and is trimmed out with glittery washi tape hearts and small red nailheads. The little banner tab at the top left is from Carta Bella’s Well Played 6×6 DP pad and the sentiment is stamped on white and popped up on dimensionals.

5inkyfingers - Monday Medley #65-2015-mm65-3

My final card took a dip in the deep end of my washi tape bucket and came up pretty darned cute. I freely admit I have a LOT of washi tape but it sure comes in handy for this sort of thing. 4 simple bands of tape are adhered beginning at the open edge of the card and ending shy of the folded edge. From there I stamped the “love” and three little circle hearts and finished it off with a splashy Melon Mambo heart (hand trimmed) and three pink gems.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! I hope you all get your fair share of smooches, hugs and love from all the sweethearts in YOUR life!
